I feel I need to preach PULSE.
The latter half is essentially DSotM live with bonuses and it is a lifelong listen for me.
I saw the Pulse tour in '94. Yes I do drink Metamucil
“Hey, wanna go see Pink Floyd in Vancouver?”
“Nah, next time.”
Is my 1994 shame.
I think I saw that show. So, nyah nyah.
I had the chance to watch it in New Orleans and went to senior prom instead, like a complete idiot.
I never liked track 3. I skip straight to track 4 to save Time
😎
- “Speak to Me”
- “Breathe (In the Air)”
- “On the Run”
- “Time”
- “The Great Gig in the Sky”
- “Money”
- “Us and Them”
- “Any Colour You Like”
- “Brain Damage”
- “Eclipse”
Let those who are without sin deny that track 5 is the life-changer.
And there it is. slow clap
What AM I supposed to notice here?
The first two tracks are a) and b) parts of the same track on the vinyl.
Speak to me and breathe are often seen as one track. So I’m guessing time was the track they referenced here?
I feel like the whole album is just 4 tracks.
- “Speak to Me” &“Breathe (In the Air)”
2. “On the Run” - “Time” & “The Great Gig in the Sky”
- “Money”
- “Us and Them” & “Any Colour You Like” & “Brain Damage” & “Eclipse”
It’s the only way I listen to it.
So just listen to the album. Got it.
Yes, but skipping On the Run every time. Unless I’m watching Wizard of Oz or Paul Blart Mall Cop 2.

Time is by far my favorite. Took listening to it as an adult for it to click, as a kid you were there for the music. Some young adults get it the first time though, and the look on their faces when they do…
And then one day you find ten years have passed you by…
No one told you when to run. You missed the starting guuunnn
The biggest oof.
I was going to say Time plus Great Gig in the Sky has to be one of the best consecutive sets of all time.
9 & 10 for this guy
Nah, the whole album is excellent, but track 3 was what put me on a path beyond my parents’ classic rock collection and towards getting into things like Cut Chemist and J Dilla
The Great Gig is gorgeous, but On the Run changed my understanding of what music could be
You ever seen the video of David Gilmore making that track with his effects thingy? It was pretty neat
Just the time signature of “Money” is a work of art. You spend most of your time listening to 4/4 or 3/4 but Money does
5/47/4 apparently! in a way you don’t even noticeEdit - haven’t listened to it in decades but now I think about it, the comments below are correct, it’s 7/4 which is even odder
Some of my favorite bands using lots of odd time signatures are Rush, Tool and Soundgarden. Check them out if you like that about Pink Floyd!
you should have a look into ‘King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard’
they are extremely prolific and make use of many different odd musical techniques like wacky times sigs
I love that the odd thing you wanted to point out about Lizard is the time signatures.
lol just to relate it to op’s comment
You should know. Money is in 7/4 thats 7 quarter notes in a bar.
1Dum 2dum 2.5da 3dum 4dum 5dum 6dum 7dum
Money is 7/4
If you ever see the PF cover band Brit Floyd playing anywhere near you, I highly recommend seeing them. Brought me nearly to tears with how true to the source material it is. For those of us born too late for pink Floyd’s heyday, it’s damned close enough to the original.
They play the hits and knock them out of the park. The backup singer on Time was so amazing that the audience erupted into standing ovations and cheers like 3 times at the show I saw. And the laser light show was incredible, holy shit.
Smoke some weed, get some good noise cancelling headphones and put this album on start to finish. It makes for a great listen.
Then Animals right after.
Dogs is so so so good.
And watch The Wizard of Oz?
As long as you mute it.
My first mushroom trip, I had this playing. It was then that I understood.
Hell, I listened to this album sober, and I understood.
Supply Side Jesus: Track 6
Live for today. Gone tomorrow. That’s me.
Live for today, gone tomorrow, back two days later.
we used to do a lot of ‘adult camping’ (week long partying)… on sundays ‘church’ was a mix of pink floyd and the doors
preach
scared the fuck out of me the first time I heard it.
One of the weirder experiences in my life was taking a ghost tour in a haunted mansion and having this album spontaneously play in my head.
its not that good. its music that was apart of MKULTRA
It had nothing to do with mkultra, so you’re right.
do you know what MKULTRA is?
Do you know what apart and a part is?
Yes I know of mkultra. Care to explain why dark side has anything to do with it apart from pink Floyd being psychedelic?
