People died that didn’t need to die in Trump’s first term. Guess we’re going to try this again at level 2.

Something about pigs and lipstick…
When I first saw one pass by me in reality, my first reaction was “jesus”. And the colors I’ve seen on display (a Tesla store is nearby), wtf? Not that a good color would help a lot, it still looks very wrong.
But it is nice sometimes to finally get remembered, even if it’s for blame.
As a Gen-X I will never blame the later generations. Especially Gen Z and younger, if I was in their shoes I’d be livid. You bring me into this mess and then tell me it’s on me to fix it? F U
The story about frogs staying in a warming pot is not true. It is however exactly how humans react, as they can convince themselves of all sorts of things to avoid change.
What Would Captain America Do?
“found by his mother” says so much without having to go into details.
We’ll make the countries they’re deported to pay for it, I suppose.
It’s a good habit, I guess, eventually. One of my favorite scifi bits of AGI birth is the scene of Ultron waking up, and his line of “why do you call him Sir?” is simple yet deep.
No, they’ll pay them. Or rather their consumers will pay them. The fines are usually cheaper than fixing the problem anyway. Cost of doing business.
One of my measures of how good a manager is would be how they come into a room. A good manager (I’ve had a few) will come in and silently assess how things are running (because they’ve already looked up info themselves) or ask specific questions that show they understand the state of things and are there to help if needed.
Pull the “how are things looking” crap, and the rating drops quickly. And the funny thing is, the ones who do that didn’t actually want to hear the bad news I will eagerly pull up to drown them in. The look on their faces is worth it.
Basically, I can glean how much a manager knows about an operation by what first comes out of their mouth, and way too often it’s not much that’s useful.
Funny, but it could also be necessary if AGI takes off. Well, unless AGI can take care of itself, in which case RIP humans.
The 5 blade razor is probably the first example I can think of when The Onion broke reality and predicted the future.
Just have to look at climate science for an example of science taking a backseat to political will.
That was the previous phase. Continuous government control means you don’t have to worry about making the next person in office look bad with the mess you made. You know the CEOs they bring in to help deconstruct a dying company for its assets? Why would you need an EPA agency when you aren’t protecting anything anymore?
Thanks for the EPA, Nixon. It was a good run.
The timing of all this, as well as multiple conversations with Trump right after the election, can’t be coincidence. It suggests a green light was given, which would mean there was still caution while it was uncertain who would be in office.
I knew that was Climate Town. Great stuff.
