This post was made by King right after Kamala did a rally in Michigan and used that phrase to trash some Anti-Genocide Pro-Palistine protesters who she first said that “OK I’m Speaking” and then told them to keep it up if they wanted Trump to win. This is after she had had met with muslim leaders and protest leaders and was giving them the run around.
Caitlin Johnstone who is famous for hosting Democracy Now and has been covering the genocide in depth, saw Steven King post this and thought, as many other people did, that it was referring to what she did to the protesters . Then people in the know started to inform us that it was in reference to something she said during the Presidential Debate 4 years ago. Something that her team should take into account and do away with that merch for a while.
She personally met with those protesters before the rally, then when they later interrupted the rally, she let them have their moment, then when they wouldn’t shut up, that’s when she said that. Those particular protesters had no intention of having any kind of discussion, and it’s quite telling that they only come to Democratic events instead of Republican ones, who are MUCH more hawkish and pro-Israel than Dems and whom a protest against might be more effective, if they actually cared about Palestinians
If they went to the Republican rallies, the Republicans would violently attack them. Trump has repeatedly and explicitly told them to do so. I can’t blame them for not protesting where they know it would land them in the hospital, or worse.
So if the democrats violently attacked them they wouldn’t protest?
Interesting, nuanced even.
Willing to put the lives of marginalized people in danger with a trump presidency but if their physical well being is threated, genocide away.
So, here’s the real reason they don’t show to trump rallies. They are under the impression they can influence the Harris campaign into supporting policy that will strong arm Isreal into ending the Palestinian genocide. Is it far fetched? Possibly, but they are desperate.
Unfortunately, we are all pretty desperate right now. So, the whole weighing human suffering thing is kind of… deaf ears and all that…
If Harris and Biden were explicitly telling their supporters to attack protesters, I know I would stop protesting at their events. I dunno about these particular protesters, but I would imagine that sort of hateful rhetoric would certainly have a cooling effect on any hypothetical protests in such a scenario.
I personally have to be extremely cautious when protesting. I have a record, and I’m certain that it would be used against me. DUI is the worst thing, but there’s also some weed distribution charges as well. I’m sure they would use that to trump up resisting arrest, or assaulting an officer, if I attended any of the protests where they intend to get arrested.
Hey. I’m not judging you at all. All this shits fucked. Even if trump was dead tomorrow, it’s going to stay fucked. You do whats right for you.
We are so close to this election end I and I’m so interested to see where the discussion goes. I know it’s not going to be good but I can hope.
What I mean by this is this election we had biden step down. For someone who’s been rallying against biden for 4 years that’s a big deal to me. Is it a fluke? Maybe. What if it wasn’t, tho? What can progressives do with that?
If Kamala wins can we make her primary in 4 years? I know. A black women getting (almost) unfair treatment compared to all other presidents but whys it gotta be a bad thing? Why should we just let the president toil away?
If trump wins 2024 best case; revolution. Worse case; north korea comes to the US.
If Kamala wins best case; we challenge her and she accepts the challenge becoming the most successful president of the last 100 years. Worse case: we fend off trump 4 more years.
Many were Palestinians who had lost swaths of their family to Genocide, but you don’t care about that… oh I though we were both making assumptions based on personal opinion.
having a long and continued squabble over who owns that land that israel sits upon, both israel and palestine being the same fucking thing biblically.
Britain shows up, goes “fucking lol, this shits mine now losers” and then shits out israel, nearly a century of war goes by, neither side ceding literally anything to the other, except for Palestine because they’re bad at fighting against a well supported and funded military, i wonder why. And then continuing to engage in that conflict until quite literally nothing is left of you as a state or nation.
and so you show up to america, for whatever reason, you’ve probably lived there most if not all of your life, you see this shit happening, and the US supporting israel, and your first thought is, “surely harassing politicans will fix the problem” or even “man surely if i just call the public genociding nazis, they’ll finally stop killing my people”
For which politician. The ones that AIPAC has either bought off or scared that they will spend endless money against any position you run for on your competitor at the slightest move that they do not approve of. The Scary Orange Man who will make things worse or the party of the Scary White Man who is literally funding the genocide of your people, the third party candidates which will get you attacked from both sides, or choose not to vote at all for a protest.
And if you look they say “They won’t vote for Genocide” not “They won’t vote for Kamala if she changes her position on Israel and its lunatic right wing government”. But they won’t vote for someone who is killing their families.
for literally any of them, it’s a given right of yours to hold. You could vote for mr shit farts if you so pleased. That would be a bad ballot, but you could still do it. You can also vote locally as well, there are many options here to help this situation.
Scary White Man who is literally funding the genocide of your people
this is also not quite true, it’s partially representative though.
And if you look they say “They won’t vote for Genocide”
I haven’t looked it up but the Artwork was recently put out by the official artist that did the Obama Hope Poster so I gather it was from the official campaign but did not verify.
Its because there are two seperate very different reactions to this. You have liberals unironically liking the slogan and you have communists loving caitlin johnstone
I’m sure you’re right about the context, but this still isn’t a great look. I also assumed that this was a reference to the very recent event, not a four year old interaction with someone who isn’t running for office this election cycle. I don’t think that’s an uncommon or unreasonable mistake to make.
This comment section is confusing me immensely

To be fair they protest Democrats because they have a history of at least listening. The Republicans, not so much.
If they went to the Republican rallies, the Republicans would violently attack them. Trump has repeatedly and explicitly told them to do so. I can’t blame them for not protesting where they know it would land them in the hospital, or worse.

Well, there’s one of two protests I would attend. And no not because I secretly would like to punch a red hat. I’m pretty open about that.

im not sure if its desperation, i think it’s that they’re all just single issue voters, they have literally nothing else in life that they care about.
I feel like if they were desperate they would probably run disinfo farms or like, fight in the conflict. But what do i know.
Many were Palestinians who had lost swaths of their family to Genocide, but you don’t care about that… oh I though we were both making assumptions based on personal opinion.
imagine being Palestinian right now.

like my brother in christ, go vote.

classic single issues voting experience really.
ah, that’s a little different. Without context, I thought she was bashing heads at some debate.
Was that shirt official campaign merch to begin with? People make their own t-shirts all the time.
Several years ago, I don’t know about now.
I haven’t looked it up but the Artwork was recently put out by the official artist that did the Obama Hope Poster so I gather it was from the official campaign but did not verify.
What is happening here

Context video
That ignores the actual context of this shirt. You just cannot remove Putin’s dick from your throat can you?
The actual context of the shirt is an event that happened in 2020 when she told Mike Pence at a VP debate that it was her turn to talk.
