Summary
Minnesota Republican state Sen. Justin Eichorn, who introduced a bill classifying “Trump Derangement Syndrome” as a mental illness, was arrested for allegedly soliciting sex from a minor.
Police say Eichorn believed he was meeting a 16-year-old girl but was actually texting undercover officers. His arrest came just a day after he and four other Republican senators introduced the controversial bill.
Eichorn, who is married with four children, was booked into jail and will be transferred to the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center.
I’m not confused about the system. I believe you completely about all these checks and balances, and I had no doubt about their existence before you explained them.
What I don’t believe is that any of it will stop him from doing whatever he wants. As evidenced by the events of the past two months. Did Kathy Hochul stop him from dropping Eric Adams corruption charges (yes, I know they were federal)? Did she instruct her AG to file state charges? Did she do anything at all to replace or remove Adams? What makes you think Walz would be any different?
This isn’t a “checks and balances” thing. The Governor of Minnesota has the authority to order actual military firepower, like tanks and helicopters, to maintain order at the facility.
Hochul is a corrupt hack, Walz is not.
Tim Walz is not going to mobilize the military to stop one pedophile politician from getting released. Didn’t you just criticize my arguments for being unrealistic? I provided a real, contemporary example of what I’m arguing about. All you’ve done is project some noble fantasy onto a governor you probably had no idea existed until he became Harris’ running mate.
