  • They did. You just don’t know about it because it was drowned out by the constant noise from the right about how Trump could fix it, and the constant noise from (Russia masquerading as) the left about how the only acceptable solution was completely stopping all support for Israel.

Do you know how to thread this particular needle? Cut off all arms to Israel (the completely unrealistic pretend-solution supposedly from the left) and you get opportunistic invasions and an entire region plunged into war. Give Netanyahu a blank check (as Trump will do) and you get an empowered and expansionist Israel that will entirely wipe out Palestinians and take over the entire territory… which will likely also lead to broader regional conflict.

Which option do you choose? Biden tried to choose neither. He tried diplomacy to get Netanyahu to back down and respect human rights, without cutting off Israel’s defense. The fact that it didn’t work - because Netanyahu is a corrupt madman - doesn’t mean he didn’t try.

  • You’ve got to be fucking kidding me. It means good luck getting a passport or any other federal documentation with your actual gender on it. It means drugs and medical treatments that are approved at the federal level for gender transition won’t be available anymore. It means if you live in a state that isn’t friendly to trans people, you are going to suffer.

So it means trans people are fucked. How do you not know this?!?

And it’s not like the issue with Palestine is better under Trump. We had the choice between a candidate who would at least try to put pressure on Netanyahu… and one who will happily do whatever is asked of him by extreme evangelical Christians who believe Israel needs to be dominant in the Middle East so Jesus will come back.

How the fuck does anyone conclude that the Democrat is bad in comparison to that?

  • If the electorate doesn’t know a party’s platform, that’s the party’s problem. It’s literally their job to scream it from the rooftops.

They did. Harris campaigned constantly, and contrary to the constant and incessant media narrative, she went into plenty of specifics.

It was all drowned out by Trump noise, and the media was 100% complicit.

And all I saw was democrats, like motherfucking Henry Cuellar, throwing the LGBTQ under the bus. Especially trans people.

Yes, Cuellar is an asshole, no argument there. But he was by no means the only Democrat on the campaign trail. Again, the media wouldn’t fucking give Democrats the time of day, because the 24-hour Trump clown show got the ratings.

We also shouldn’t dismiss the problem of sexism, some of it internalized. Back in 2008, I had the misfortune of meeting a woman who wasn’t sure who to vote for. She wanted to vote for McCain at the time, but was hesitant because she didn’t want a woman to be vice-president. (The fact that Sarah Palin was immensely unqualified didn’t matter, but the fact she had a vagina did.) That attitude is still a lot more common than people who live in largely progressive areas realize.
