With all the hate Trump deservedly gets, Apple was already doing it because both Biden and Trump were on the same course when it comes to putting tariffs on China. Tariffs work for this purpose, see how India got Apple to manufacture locally. Indonesia is trying now too.

Please expand upon this thought. I seem to be very in the wrong according to votes on my comment but nobody seems to make any counterpoint. It’s like people don’t want to think about it so they hide it.
As the other guy said, I think Apple is working in it’s own interests more than anything and the tarrifs were not the primary motivation. For one, Apple does not mention tarrifs or reference them in both their 2021 $430 billion investment announcement or their more recent $500 billion announcement. On top of that, at the end of last year Bloomberg reported Apple is still committing to investing more in China. Do the tarrifs play a part in the US investment? Maybe, but I think it would be foolish to say this is a sign of them being the primary motivator for them.
You do realise that Apple sells things outside of US and don’t have to worry about tariffs there?
Yes, of course, about half their revenue comes from outside the US from a quick search. But doesn’t that reinforce my point that tarrifs were likely not the primary reason for this US investment? China is not threatening tarrifs on Apple, yet they still plan to invest there because it is in their best interest and the interests of their shareholders.
Apple is building loads of capacity to cover as much of US demand as needed due to tariffs and not more because it’s cheaper to produce elsewhere and not burdened by tariffs. They did not put the reason for this in writing because you can see how Apple fans behave when you mention that conservatives achieved some of their goals. It would affect sales and therefore be fiscally irresponsible. Btw, have you really reviewed all Apple public financial statements? I didn’t so I don’t want to claim something doesn’t exist there.
You’re literally seeing what tariffs are supposed to achieve but refuse to admit that. They have many downsides but brining in work and investment ain’t it.
Apple does what’s in Apple’s best interest. They were already well down this path before Trump’s latest round of tantrums. You’re just wasting effort trying to spin this to somehow be a victory for an octogenarian toddler.
I said they were on this path because US policy on China was consistent since the first Trump administration. You’re arguing against a made up point.
Maybe it’s because I said that some of the things Biden did were exactly the same but you’re looking for a reason to dunk on Trump? There are plenty of actual reasons, there’s no need. Ok, so no real points then. I can be a prick once someone admits to wasting my time, so yeah, at least I’m not ignorant. It’s either for me and most people get cranky when they have to look reality in the eye so it’s not that unusual.
