I work in IT, specifically education. I know how easy it can be to passively and actively monitor thousands of people with one station. It’s probably already too late for us, but we can try.
Use metaphor, don’t use the direct spelling, don’t make your intentions completely clear.

From what I know Element is a safer bet (similarly encrypted, but also decentralized), but Signal is the best one out of the messengers that don’t require any technical knowledge.
This is needless fearmongering. Follow basic privacy practices and it’ll take far more than a “mass surveillance” level of effort to track down your real identity from a social media profile. I agree with the sentiment of this post, but let’s face it: if we get to the point where they’re sending secret police to everyone who ever said “fuck Trump” online, we’re beyond fucked, and electronic defenses will be moot at that point. Using euphemisms for Trump and Musk won’t save you from their surveillance.
Right now, it’s important to be outspoken about every one of their abuses, to name and shame them for as long as it’s still allowed, because the moment it’s not, there won’t be anything left to defend.
That’s fair, it’s definitely a possibility. However in my opinion it’s far too unlikely to justify the self-censorship.
