I’m a fan and catch YT recaps of topics he covers that I find interesting.

I will say though that he, as a political influencer, is beholden to his target demographic in the same way that Fox News captivates/gets held captive by its more fervent supporters. It’s a crude analogy, but my understanding is that the ideals of journalism is to follow the news, while influencers follow the engagement.

It is interesting getting his insights and hearing a knowledgeable person speak on the issues, but it isn’t the same as getting news from a true blue journalist imo

I can’t say I’ve watched anything more than clips of him really. And some pretty poor logic in many instances. Some of his biggest shit takes tend to center around china etc. Largely because he’s trying to court the leninist/tank space. A bad idea.

Though ironically your comments almost exactly mirror those of another political youtuber. Vaush. I don’t watch all that much of him either. Just again Clips every once in awhile. He has his own issues. But doesn’t change his views to be popular like Hasan. Whether that’s good or bad.

I don’t watch Vaush often but I like what I have seen from him.

I’ve been following Vaush for the past month or so, and have watched a few of his debates as well.

Overall, I find that I largely agree with him on issues like market socialism and on general liberalism (i.e. stuff like “the one good idea liberals have is individual rights”).

I feel he maybe overuses accusations of fascism, but I can’t really point to any particular case and stay no, it was wrong to identify this as fascist. I just might not be as willing as he is to accept that fascism is the second most widely held political ideology.

I also like that he’s willing to go back to first principles and defend his ideology while accepting that it’s a bit arbitrary, and he genuinely doesn’t come across to me as patronizing about it.

Yeah, I also seem to remember being a fan and then continually being surprised by his shit takes. That tracks with what I experienced.

Yeah the one that really stuck with me was the one where he was watching a bunch of Chinese huddling under a bridge in order to access heavily censored and controlled internet through an organizations nearby Wi-Fi. Because their communist Utopia didn’t provide them access at home. Saying that the West needs this sort of thing. I mean if I were to try to assume the best of him I can only imagine he thought it must have been some social club or something?

Not to mention some of the really strange stance changes groups like even The Young Turks have taken of late. One would have to be extremely naive to think that Tim pool or even just right wing commentators were the only ones contacted and contracted by Pro authoritarianism groups.

His audience is so young sometimes he has to explain how old he is and why what he is saying sounds boomer. He’s like 28. The kid is sharp though. I catch his clips on YT. No time to watch his streams.

That’s how I watch it as well. I think the benefit of the YT clips is that the editors crop in news articles to bolster his claims w/ factual evidence. It’s like a built-in fact checker confirmer
