That’s hilarious, because less than 10 years ago Outlook on Mac was so fucking broken that I started a list of the weirdest and funniest bugs at the time.
Also it seems frankly insane to me that people would actively choose a Mac for this reason, and I say that as an M4 owner. But I guess it’s true that for most users the OS barely matters as long as their 2-3 apps and the browser work fine.
Have you tried LibreOffice Draw? I love it for that same reason.
I’ve always used LibreOffice for that purpose. It’s more familiar if you’re used to office software vs graphics design software.
The city of Munich’s move to open source software across thousands of workstations was by all accounts a success on a technical level, which I’m sure could be replicated by most European administrations.
The problem was, of course, political. The incoming conservative admin needed to paint the outgoing center admin as incompetent, and to do their usual corruption of course. So they jumped on a specific department’s complaint about an issue with one piece of software to cancel and roll back the entire fucking project.
A few months later, Microsoft opened up their new European headquarters in Munich. By sheer coincidence I’m sure. And in no way related to the fact that they have an incentive in the billions to keep people convinced there is no workable alternative even decades later.
It’s still preemptive compliance by Microsoft.

It’s the big catch-22 of modern civics and political engagement. Terrible conditions make many people look towards the systems and rulers that bring about those terrible conditions.
