I liked FreeDNS when I used them, but that was something like 10 years ago. Could be worth looking into.
Mama told me not to come.
She said, that ain’t the way to have fun.

Wait, really? I would go to a different title company then, you don’t have to go with the one your real estate agent or the seller happen to like, pick one you’re comfortable with.
I’d look into Hetzner, their pricing is pretty fair and they have some nifty features.
Also check out Vultr, they have block storage and some interesting addons.
That’s where I’d start, but I haven’t needed to host anything like Lemmy.
It’s really not.
While I agree we need to drastically reduce military spending, that decision has consequences. We’d need to shut down foreign bases, reduce naval presence around the globe, and increase our reliance on reserves instead of standing military. If we do that, that’ll embolden other countries (like China, Iran, and Russia) to fill that void unless other partners step up.
Military spending (and deficit spending in general) is a major issue I’m concerned about, and I’m unhappy with both major parties here. I like Trump’s pressure on the EU to step up their part, but I don’t like his increases to military spending. I like Biden’s and Harris focus on social programs instead of military spending, but I don’t like their lack of cuts. Neither party is actually interested in turning swords into plow shears, they just court the military industrial complex differently.
We need to increase taxes and cut spending, yet both parties seem to do the opposite.
Yeah, I know they’re not necessarily regular, seeing as I’m married to someone with menstrual cycles. I guess I’m just not very familiar with what kind of data a calendar and a spreadsheet can’t solve just as easily.
Eh, a calendar and a spreadsheet should be enough, but I also don’t have menstrual cycles, so what do I know…
There are calendar apps, which should get the job done, assuming your menstrual cycle is pretty regular.
Yup. I use Tuta for email, and they have a calendar feature that should be more than sufficient. Just set a recurring event for 28 days or whatever your personal cycle is, and you’re good to go! Everything is E2EE, so there’s nothing for the authorities to get.
I’m sure Proton Mail’s calendar feature is equally sufficient here, or you could self-host something like NextCloud and use the calendar that way.
Yeah, that’s certainly possible, and AFAIK Lemmy doesn’t really do anything to protect against it (they’d have to intercept any outgoing content fetches).
However, in order to do that, they’d need to make a honeypot account that posts to get that data. That’s a lot of effort for a border patrol agent to go through on a quick stop, so they’re probably only going to bother for specific targets. So unless you’re targeted, they’re probably not going to bother making an effort to gather that type of information. The big tech companies will just hand that data over (for a fee, of course), whereas the federated nature of Lemmy means your admin would need to do that, and I just don’t think that’s very likely.
That said, if you’re worried about it, practice good OPSec. Use a VPN, burner email addresses, and don’t post personal info (or if you do, post conflicting personal info as often as you post accurate info).
I signed up w/o an email address, though I think my instance now requires one.
And they’re more interested in matching up user accounts to people, and there’s no public link there unless you provide it.
I don’t think so, but I honestly hadn’t heard of Chegg before today either.
I imagine the same is true for ChatGPT as well.
Just do your homework, you might actually learn something…
The article explains it in the first few paragraphs. Here is paragraph 2 and most of paragraph 3:
Chegg should be familiar to most people who have been to college in recent years. It started out in the 2000s renting out textbooks and later expanded into online study guides, and eventually into a platform with pre-written answers to common homework questions.
Unfortunately, the launch of ChatGPT all but annihilated Chegg’s business model. The company for years paid thousands of contractors to write answers to questions across every major subject, which is quite a labor intensive process—and there’s no guarantee they will even have the answer to your question.
I can access __globals__ at any time
Not on my team you can’t.
We use optional types everywhere for our server code, and that works really well. Not sure what if not variable:
means? Just look at its type, no big deal. We don’t annotate everything, but we annotate enough that static analysis tools can tell us what the type of pretty much any variable is. And most of the time, it’s not even necessary because the variables are clear enough that the type can be inferred.
So yeah, not an issue.
Humanity is lovely, it’s politicians I struggle with.
Lol. He’s actually 6’3" though (190.5cm), so pretty tall.
Still, I absolutely hate mixing diplomatic/military policy and economic policy. Screw all of that. Doesn’t change his height though.
40k really isn’t that many, especially when it comes to war. That said, those bases can likely handle a lot higher population, which would rapidly increase in wartime.
I’m a male, but I am married to someone who has periods. And yeah, they’re not textbook, but they’re generally within a couple days. We can both tell when it’s about to happen because my SO’s hormones start going crazy (alternate between angry over small things and affectionate), and like clockwork, the menstrual cycle happens about 2 days later.
But yeah, it’s generally about every 4 weeks, give or take a few days. It used to be all over the place, but now that she’s been better about exercise and diet, it’s a lot more consistent.
