Americans are fucking stupid, have you met us? People have been increasingly less capable and less willing to do basic amounts of reading for like a generation. Critical thinking is all but dead. It’s nice that you have high expectations of citizenry, but that just doesn’t comport with reality.
Hives are one of the clearest signs of an allergic reaction. There is basically no normal circumstance where those should occur.
It sounds like there are potentially other factors contributing to your symptoms at home, but the last couple of things happening with dogs in general strongly suggests that you have a dog allergy.
I have to echo other posters here and urge you to see a doctor about testing (if financially viable) and mitigation advice.
Habits can be built and rebuilt. I’ve known a disappointing amount of people who refuse to use a calendar for reminders out of pride and end up being all over the place in the end.
The lawsuit in question is a civil matter, not a criminal one, but you are correct that that is the case if a state prosecutor does decide to bring criminal charges
Uh, nope, you’re putting words in my mouth. It’s not realistic to worry about mitigating that kind of stuff when we can’t even prevent ourselves from cooking ourselves, and several of the things you listed don’t even have plausible technical solutions right now. Nice try, though.
a planetary catastrophe out of our control
You’re still describing climate change. Science fiction ideas are fun to think about but our own inability to live harmoniously with nature is going to kill us off before any of those problems become relevant.
Counterpoint, if you have two monitors with different DPI scaling, window dimensions get butchered when moving between them
This looks awesome. Posting so I can read it later - the Mbin mobile site absolutely butchers your table, and I feel like submitting a bug report~
If there are any R voters left in the Trump camp who have the capacity to be disgusted, this might push more of them to vote Harris/Walz
To quote Hamlet, Act 3, Scene 3, Line 87: “No”.
Stealing this to be annoying with
Do I think it’s generally useful? No, not at all.
But for very specific purposes it’s worth considering as an option.
Text-to-image generation has been worth it to get a jumping-off point for a sketch, or to get a rough portrait for a D&D character.
Regular old ChatGPT has been good on a couple occasions for humor (again D&D related; I asked it for a “help wanted” ad in the style of newspaper personals and the result was hilariously campy)
In terms of actual problem solving… There have been a couple instances where, when Google or Stack Overflow haven’t helped, I’ve asked it for troubleshooting ideas as a last resort. It did manage to pinpoint the issue once, but usually it just ends up that one of the topics or strategies it floats prove to be useful after further investigation. I would never trust anything factual without verifying, or copy/paste code from it directly though.
the court ordered Wikipedia to disclose who made these allegedly defamatory edits to the ANI page
… Isn’t the edit history public, though? They should be able to determine the IPs/users who are responsible for the edits.
I don’t know how the Indian legal system works, but then if necessary you would try to compel Wikipedia to turn over contact information for those users, as with a subpoena in US law.
…
…
After looking over the article, Wikipedia has turned over user info to that effect. ANI is mad because they weren’t allowed to edit their own page, essentially, which is disallowed on Wikipedia in general because of bias.
The hearing began in July after ANI petitioned the court, saying it had tried to change the allegedly defamatory material on Wikipedia but its edits were not accepted.
The ANI page was put under “extended confirmed protection” - a Wikipedia feature used to stop vandalism or abuse - where only users who have already done a certain number of edits can make changes to a page.
I mean, they’re used to mostly only getting their way when they cheat.
Projection as deflection? Well I never.
I have no idea if it’s an aged sauce. Regardless, I meant it was opened many many years prior
Based on your post, you’re not autistic, you’re just a writer.
It feels like something in the genre of the paradox of tolerance, where the most empathetic and pacifistic people are the people best positioned to remove shitters from the gene pool responsibly
