FF hasn’t been like that since like 10. 12 to 16 is all real time combat. even the FF7 remake is real time.

as someone who grew up in Cambridge…yeah the kitchener subreddit doesn’t surprise me. I’ve looked at it a few times and was like “yup, that’s Kitchener” I mean hell if those fuckers were allowed to commit a purge on the homeless encampent across the street from the go station they’d jump on that without a moments hesitation.

Kitchener has always been a cesspool of hate even when I was a kid in the 80s/90s. The only, literally only, reason we’d ever drive to Kitchener was to go to fairvew mall, toys r’ us, or futureshop.

name me a Canadian subreddit that ISN’T run by mods that staunchly control the narrative. /r/Toronto is just as bad if not worse although leaning in the opposite direction and is one of the primary reasons why I decided to fully embrace lemmy.

the mods of /r/toronto are just so damn terrified of potentially stirring any kind of pot. Anything that is pro-palestine is quickly locked and you can’t comment on it. pro israel is open for discussion. anything relating to homelessness in Toronto is also promptly locked. questions about Toronto? removed. countless photos of sunsets or rain or fog, yeah those can pass. Hell they even at one point curbed posting about any sort of crime that took place in the city.

If something doesn’t paint the city in a positive light or doesn’t fit the mods narrative it’s removed and you’re promptly banned.

which browser are you using on it?

just wait a bit for ublock to update their scrips/feed then it’ll work again.

happens to me every now and again, at least on windows, but then I switched to linux and it just stopped happening. Hell I don’t even get ads on Twitch anymore when I would all the time regardless of what extentions I used on windows.

you could always duel boot or VM for your adobe stuff.

also thanks to lemmy I made the switch from Windows to Linux and I’ll never go back.

There’s something that happened that I can’t quite put my finger on. Sure I’m going to show my age here but when I went to elementary school in the 80s/90s our entire school was essentially made up of immigrants. Irish, British, Polish, Ukrainians, Filipinos, Iranians, Syrians, Indians, etc, etc, etc and we all got along just fine. we were all friends. We all went to each others birthday parties, all our parents hung out with each other. If a new familiy immigrated in and moved to our neighborhood we’d have a big BBQ and invite everyone over.

So what happened? and it swings both ways. Both Canadians being hostile to new immigrants and immigrants coming in and being hostile or disrespectful to the country they decided to move to and it’s people.

I just don’t get it and maybe someone smarter than I can explain it.

other articles about this have said it was a “mob of midde eastern men” and the video that is on some sites shows that they were middle eastern. as far as them being Syrian? who knows. But it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that their religious beliefs were likely at play.

Don’t expect a MASSIVE increase in performance though. Just keep that in mind. But it will remove Edge, copilot, onedrive, ads, manditory updates, and a lot of microsoft bloatware.

I mean you can install Revi with Windows 11 and that makes Microsoft essentially stay out of the picture while you do what you want. If I were to go back to Windows I wouldn’t do it without installing it with Revi.

I went with CachyOS cause it was also suggested to me here, has a good development team, and works great with nvidia cards. It’s so fast too. doubles my FPS on most games (went from 40ish FPS in Final Fantasy 14 on Windows to 80+ FPS on CachyOS) and also doubles my battery life of my laptop. Windows 11 had my battery to like maybe an hour but 30min for sure if I was doing anything other than browsing. on linux I’m getting 3 hours out of it regardless of what I’m doing.

If you’re looking to easily transition from windows to get used to linux I’d say anything that uses Plasma or Cinnamon will do you well. an Arch distro with Plasma would work swimmingly.

Honestly, switch to Linux.

I’ve been a Windows user all my life and my last attempt at using Linux was back in the early 00’s and…it did not go well at all. but now? it’s easier to install than Windows and it’s faster.

I finally decided to make the switch the other week after someone on Lemmy suggested Mint to me. Really it’s the best way to get introduced to Linux and it’s so god damn painfully easy to install. Once you get your barings you can switch to another distro that’s more suited to what you want to focus on doing on your pc.

I used Mint for just over a week, figured out packages and cloning from repos to install things, got all my games and what have you working on it, etc. Then decided to go with CachyOS cause it seemed a great option for gaming.

It just works. And there’s so many great communities online where if something doesn’t work there’s people out there who know HOW to get it to work and walk you through it. It’s actually easier to find programs and and install them then using windows. If I want something well I can either open up Octopi (built in) and search for something I need OR if I know it’s on Windows and I want in on Cachy I can go to AUR and just search for it. 9 times out of 10 someone has already made a package to install it. couple of command lines later and I have it. literally just copy and paste the git repo and build it.

I’ll never go back to Windows, never. Linux is in such a great place right now that your basic PC user can get it going. And it’s so much fun to customize and tailor to your needs.

How is Bazzite as far as desktops/laptops go?

I’ve just switched over to linux last week from Windows and i’m hooked. But now I find i’m just looking at all the various distros trying to figure out which one would be best for me. Right now I’m on Mint/cinnamon and it’s great. but I’ve had my eye on CachyOS, Nobara, and Bazzite.

I wanted to try out Bazzite via live usb but it doesn’t have that option. So I’m just curious what people who use it think of it.

Edit: decided to go with CachyOS. bit harder to set up and get going then Mint but I managed to pull it off and actually prefer it. super fast too.

this doesn’t make a lick of sense. I know 16 year olds who WANT to work and can’t even find jobs because of the foreign temp workers/international students. Saskatchewan wants to allow 13 year olds? why? there’s literally no point. A business that is already more than willing to take advantage of a potential employee is still going to favor some “student” from India over a 13 year old Canadian kid. you can take more advantage of the Indian kid as opposed to the 13 year old Kid.

honestly I’d move to Montreal but my french is absolutely dreadful and just never “stuck” from school. If I need to know your name, your age, how you’re doing and who cut the cheese(farted)? sure I’m all over that. everything else? not so much.

it’s because they’re afraid to rattle those cages. Same reason why it’s always “companies want workers to return to the office, here’s why” and never “Here’s WHY employees don’t want to return to the office”. They don’t want to piss off the powers that be for fear of hurting their already very fragile media business.

“oh you’re knocking our company for stagnate wages? for forcing people to come back to the office? ok well we’re going to directly hurt your ad revenue by pulling our ads from your paper/site”

best thing EA can do is just drop the rights to it back to American McGee and let him fumble his way to a third game. His die hard fans, of which there are many, will love it but I imagine it would get critically panned just like all his other games with the exception of the first Alice.

Many former id guys when they go out on their own don’t have the best track record.

knew a guy that did this. keep your head down, blend in, don’t be loud, everything plugged into headphones, no parties, nothing just go, chill out, sleep. he did it for over a year and never got caught.
