Yeah, 16/32 bits pixel art is timeless. F-Zero X and Star Fox 64 I think aged very well too.
I’m still playing through the Perfect Dark campaing on Switch. As you mention with OoT, once you get used to the controllers, you don’t mind anymore. I thought maybe N64 games hadn’t aged well since the 3D graphics were right from the start of the transition into 3D, with not too many polygons. But the gameplay is still fun, which is the main thing. And the old graphics have their charm!
I also had some friends come over and since one of them had mentioned she liked Bubble Bobble, I got Bubble Bobble 4 Friends. I wouldn’t get it for myself, but it turns out to be really fun and chaotic on couch co-op with 3 other people. It starts easy and gets quite challenging, mostly when there’s so much stuff on screen (or I’m old), but I guess that’s the goal.
Yeah, it’s sad that people will make a whole deal out of each answer when it’s mostly corporate speak without really saying anything too interesting.
Thought I’d post the whole thread here, since every Nintendo/Gaming “news outlet” out there is making a whole post out of each and every answer 🙄
I have played around 100 hours of Smash Ultimate and I’d say at least 85% of that time has been single player and online multiplayer. It’s really fun to play with other people multiplayer, but realistically I don’t do that as often as I’d like. And when I do, we rarely end up playing Smash :(
I look forward to reading your comments about OoT next week!
I tried playing with the Switch controller and I found it to be a nightmare 😅 I should try setting them up to see if I can make it work better. I have an old N64 controller where I installed the 8bitdo Mod Kit for the Switch. It feels way better, but the analogue stick is not in great condition so it’s not great for aiming. It’s still good enought I guess, but I’ll have to try setting up the controllers with the Switch Pro.
I played some Hunters too, and it was fun. I unlocked a few characters and then I kind of lost interest.
I am currently playing Star Fox: Adventures on the Game Cube. I played it years ago but didn’t finish it so I started a new game to finish it.
I also started Perfect Dark on the Switch. (again, I played it a lot on original hardware back in the day). It’s a good game, I always preferred it over Goldeneye. I don’t know if I’m going to finish it again, but it’d be really cool to relive some multiplayer battles!
I love Marvel Vs. Capcom and I didn’t really play the second one much. This is a day one purchase for me on the Switch!
Yeah, I’ve been wanting to play it on original hardware, but the prices are excessive. Will probably end up playing it on Nintendo Online.
Despite being seven years old, my Switch has never collected dust.
Same for me. I didn’t expect I’d be getting any more new Switch games this year, but then the Direct came…
I’ve only played the first one, but I’m starting the second one on Game Cube soon! I still have hope they’ll release 2 and 3, even if they’re not “Remasters”, it doesn’t make sense that they wouldn’t be selling them before Prime 4.
I share the enthusiasm! It was really good. I honestly didn’t expect Metroid Prime 4 to even be on the Switch anymore, and got pleasantly surprised. Any expectations for a new top view Zelda were remakes, and was again gladly surprised by a new entry in the series, and with Zelda as the main character. It looks very fun and I’m definitely getting it! I’m also incredibly excited about Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection! I have nothing more to ask from Capcom (other than a console version of Cadillacs & Dinosaurs maybe?)
I wonder if it coming out in 2025 means there’s still a chance we see Prime 2 and 3 Remasters on Switch, Maybe for Christmas 2024?
Same for me! I absolutely hated playing with the wiimote. Hopefully they’ve fixed that gimmick on this one.
It reminded me of Looney Tunes B-Ball on the SNES. I remember renting it with my cousin and playing it for hours on a weekend. Hope it’s fun!
I liked the clarification “There will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during this presentation.” 😆 Ok Nintendo, ok. We need to keep buying Switch games, we get it…
Any predictions? I guess the Zelda (WW and/or TP) HD remasters could come up, maybe the 2 titles left in the Metroid Prime trilogy get shadow dropped like the first one. I don’t have any high hopes for Metroid Prime 4, now I’m almost wishing it comes out on “the Nintendo Switch successor”.
I haven’t played Origins, Mania and Superstars as much as I thought I would on the Switch. But I’ve heard really good things about Generations… Cool times for Sonic fans!
I’ve played most of the NES and X ones, but I’ve never played the Game Boy titles. So I might install Game Boy on my Switch just to try these.
This looks interesting. Metroid Dread vibes, but seems to be its own thing.
