The “Costco guys” arent a good example of a family just having wholesome fun. It may have started that way, but it is very much a business now.
There are behind the scenes videos from collabs/etc that show its shot just like any other web show/content. Scripts, Multiple takes, embedded ads, etc.
These “family funtime” youtubers are doing a job. Its there “9 to 5” like everyone else. A lot of it is just as tedious or worse than what other people do for money. I sure hope the son has a trust set up, because hes a child actor doing a job.
You think Mr. Beast is just “hanging with the boys” too? No, he’s got a whole company, formulaic scripts, re-takes, marketing plans, exploitive policies that take advantage of people like every other company, on and on and on.
These people are working. They are not there selflessly to feed your parasocial needs. The bad ones will gladly pretend they are, but its work all the same.
The streamers/vlogers that are good and honest about it can still be lots fun to watch and occasionally interact with, but the people that make it big either got in very early, got very lucky or are extraordinarily entertainers in their own right.
