You seem invested in an idea, but fail to present it. Please take a break and relax your mind. It seems too tense to properly convey your meanings.

You’re making no sense.
Not really. Lots of people here excommunicated toxic people out of their lives and yet those toxic people still voted for the wrong ideas. And according to the numbers thrown around, the ideology hasn’t died out by way of excommunication.
All excommunication managed to do is create a 2 party system based on hating the other side. And a complete excommunication would mean the end of the United States and the beginning of the Opposing States or something like that.
Time has a way of dealing with that
I’m referring to people with horrible views dying.
You’re right. I have no idea what you’re on about.
Agreed. But there’s a lot of blame going around that says otherwise.
And either you’re expecting the people you hate to die first or for yourself to die before them. Neither of those cases actually solves the problem, so your choice is quite pointless. All you’re doing is passing on the torch to the next generation and thus maintaining the cycle of ruination.
Apparently it is. Otherwise we wouldn’t have popular comments such as “if you didn’t vote, you’re complicit” or “silence is acquiescence of fascism”. So no communication = violence, because if you run away from them, then you’re giving them free reign to implement their views.
…
Death doesn’t care about one’s political views.
Yes, we’re seeing it live. Most people here don’t seem very much pleased with how time decided to deal with it though.
If you want to change the world, you can’t escape the confrontation.
The toxicity won’t disappear on its own. It has to be cleaned up.
Because the alternative to communication is violence.
It merely shows no one is exempt from displaying bias.
No! Pasta! Cookies! Pizza! Croissant! Gimme!
Ever heard of the saying “Walk a mile in my shoes”? So the clearest means of conveying information would be to encapsulate someone’s entire life experience up to that point, temporarily transfer that state to the other person and allow them to understand the entire background of how that information came to be. Do that back and forth and you have the clearest means of communicating information between people.
Thanks for the high praise. But also quite accurate.
I’ve been a mod before, in other places. My rule always ended up biased and unfair, but thankfully I was quickly overthrown. There’s a degree of separation when being part of the staff that alienates my view from that of the user base over time. Also, as said above, i am a bit of a cunt with people I don’t like. Can’t help it really…
It’s a tough gig, combating hatefulness, and most social media would rather pay fines than actually do their job in this regard. And constantly being exposed to the stress and negativity, well, it changes you.
I wish you luck and remember to visit the wholesome side of Lemmy more often, to keep in mind why you do this thankless job.
Ps: Thank you
Well shit! So no fucking around anymore? What about Australians? Are they still allowed to go “cunt” this and “cunt” that? I think it’s part of their cultural identity and forcing them to stop might harm them on an emotional level.
And what about the Polish? Or was it Poles? I forget. Anyway, “kurwa bobr” is an international sensation. We cannot censor it without it being called abuse and attracting a different kind of "kurwa"s posts.
Insults that are part of one’s cultural identity should be protected. And as such, I propose that the mod team should sacrifice a small amount of time in their day to learn culturally appropriate swear words from languages across the globe and share them with the rest of the users so that we may all know the socially acceptable way of insulting one another in a polite and friendly fashion.
A pleasant non-fucking day to you all. (They say abstinence makes the heart grow fond)
“Before you say anything, just hear me out. There’s like tons of prisons everywhere, so what if we march the prisoners at gunpoint to work the fields, for free?” ~ Trump administration, probably
Strictly speaking on ethics, if it’s for some educational purposes then it’s fine. If it’s for the educational purposes of making a profit, then it’s not fine.
People won’t magically disappear just because one no longer interacts with them. They’ll still exist, live their life and interact within the society we’re all a part of. One can set them aside for the majority of the time, but eventually those connections do come back to haunt and annoy.
