I did read your comment, that is why I responded the way I did. If you can’t link that minorities are the ones affected by racism, I don’t think that you should be commenting on racial politics in the US.

Have you considered that your perspective on the matter could be skewed by your own inability to take critique maturely? Most adults are able self-reflect and grow as people from interactions with others of differing perspectives. It’s only a small percentage who react violently, and frankly, they are bullies who should not be catered to.
Nothing quite like logging onto lemmy and reading the most “if minorities were nicer then people would be less racist” victim blaming comment. No, there is no world in which minorities rolling over and gently teaching misguided racists gets them equal rights. We have a systemic issue in the US where the right has been defunding education and pushing vitriolic rhetoric for decades. Minorities should not need to prove their humanity at every turn just to stay alive, nevertheless participate in politics.
Well they’re going to have to hurry it up if they want to prevent this one, voting is tomorrow I believe.
Note that it’s extremely likely that ranked choice will be the deciding factor here as Cuomo may “win” first choice but lose the ranked majority. Expect challenges in implementing ranked choice from establishment dems in the immediate future.
I have the boox palma 2, if you (OP) want a very portable device I’d definitely recommend! The fingerprint reader is pretty bad though, ha. But worth it to have something phone sized and easy to pocket.
Does that matter? Each one is a real person whose life is going to be turned upside down thanks to this ruling. The fascists will justify this if the number is small (“not that many people affected, what does it matter?”) or large (“this is a dangerous trend that should be regulated”). We need to support trans rights on principle.
This is only the beginning of a long summer. If you can get out there, do it! There are more of us than them. But remember that this isn’t going to be the last occasion either. We need to be ready to stand up and say no many more times. Progress is slow, build community support now. Stay safe, be brave. ♥️

Bisexuals aren’t exclusively attracted to men and women, nonbinary and agender folks are largely included. Common interpretation of the bi=2 prefex is including 1) same- (homo) and 2) different- (hetero) gender sexuality. Colloquially the difference between bi and pan is usually described as bisexuality allowing for preference for certain genders but not exclusively so, while pansexuality is attraction regardless of gender. A given bisexual might be attracted to twice as many women as men, but that doesn’t mean their attraction to those men isn’t real, you know? Meanwhile a pansexual could have attraction to the exact same people but wouldn’t ascribe it to gender, just individuals. Largely the difference between the two is therefore personal preference in how someone experiences their sexuality.
Are there not enough cat pictures on the internet, that we have to generate them with AI? I’d rather see a real cat any day
Ahh, no! I was agreeing with the top comment that using UTC everywhere would cause more problems. Glad we’re on the same page now!
I don’t understand what you’re asking here. I’m saying if you kept UTC in every place on earth, you’d still have to relate those hours to a solar based local time. If you wake up at 6UTC in London and then travel to Moscow, the sun in Moscow would rise 3 hours earlier (guessing, not sure exactly what time time difference is). So if Moscow was also keeping UTC, they would set their alarms for 3UTC to wake up with the sun. If you travel to Moscow, you’d wake up at 3UTC with the sun, which is the equivalent of 3am London time, but is around sunrise locally. This is just how time zones work, so I have no idea where the confusion is.
Sunrise at 06:00 UTC in one timezone would occur at 03:00 UTC three timezones over, I mean. The relationship between standard time and local, solar noon based time (sunrise, noon, sunset, midnight) is going to have a flexing relationship across different places on Earth. So if you’re travelling or even communicating across timezones, you haven’t fixed anything by using UTC since daily activities (sleep, meals, etc.) are still correlated to when the sun is up or not. Timezones communicates that daily relationship with time pretty effectively without having to do a lot of thought about it all the time.
And you’d still have to adjust to local time anyway! Travel three timezones and now noon is at 9 instead of 12. Your alarm to wake up at 6, now needs to be at 3.
Maybe if it gets popular you can implement categories of some sort? So people who don’t want to opine on certain topics can tap out before getting those questions
This is really really significant, especially with the other news of arresting Judge Hannah Dugan for opposing an ICE kidnapping in her courtroom. The legal system is forcing them to at least slow their destructive policy implementation and they don’t like that.
Every new step is testing the waters of what the people will accept. They’ve already backtracked on things that were sufficiently unpopular. We need to push back hard, now. Call your reps, get in the streets, say Judge Hannah Dugan’s name.
Protip: if you’re going to vandalize Nazi shit, write out “Nazi” instead of a swastika to differentiate from pro-Nazi graffiti
The niche coffee scene in the US uses them, they are excellent for pour overs, French press, etc. But they are not widely popular since dedicated coffee machines are most commonly used.
