The exception to this is environment variables. You can start the container with the old variables in place but don’t expect them to work! It is recommended to read the docker section of our docs page before upgrading.

It was huge and everyone was angry. It took a lot of pull that CS didn’t die because of steam, a lot of players stayed on 1.5 for a long time. But HL2 was too big of an argument to stay off steam.

I think with pyenv and pipenv/UV you can create pretty reliable packaging. But it’s not as common as electron, so it’s a pain.
