We stopped shopping at Provigo when the Loblaws boycott started. We’ve been shopping at our local food market where there’s food mongers of all kinds. The fruits and vegetables are about the same price, but bigger and better quality. We get out meat at the butcher, cheese at the cheese counter, fish at the fish monger, anyway you get the idea. Even dry goods like rice, flour, chocolate chips, cereal, nuts coffee and even soap we get at a bulk shop.

We only go to Metro to buy canned goods, cleaning products and some dairy.

We don’t particularly save that much but man the food is so much better.

We went to Provigo recently because we just didn’t have time to do it groceries and had to do one stop for everything. I never thought the quality of the fruits and vegetables were so bad. Holy shit. Everything was almost rotten in the shelves. And the meat portions have reduced so much! I wanted to buy a pound of ground beef and all the packages were one third of a pound less!!! I had to buy two and they cost as much as a regular pound! Unbelievable.

Are we going to have another pandemic?

Oh I am paying attention. I know that’s at stake. I was born in the early 80’s so I’ve seen the progress. And I’ve seen the conservatives chipping away at it for the past 20 years. Both in the US and Canada. (I’m Canadian)

Gen Z grew up on social media. The same that spreads the propaganda, the fake information and the toxic masculinity bullshit.

They also grew up with an impossible social economic context where they barely have any hope. Trump’s making promises to make the country great again. What have they got to lose?

And if you knew how the company treats it’s employees and what they have to put up with, you’d support their union.

It has more about the courts not having enough judges or enough rooms to process every trial than the police. With the Jordan rule, the delays are exceeding the limit and therefore criminals are walking off free.

Either we extend the minimum period, or get rid of the Jordan rule, or get more judges. But I don’t think cancelling the Jordan rule is a good idea. We definitely need more judges.

Not to mention that people now consume all their news online - mostly on social media - which don’t publish Canadian news anymore. So all they read about are American news.

We barely see anything about our politicians and politics.

First of all, we have a national “auto insurance” where you can’t sue someone in case of an accident. And the fees are paid through the license plate which is super expensive. And it’s even more expensive for a motorcycle due to the risks. Regular insurance is also more expensive. So in the end it’s not really worth it.
