Dehumanising people makes it easy to hate and persecute them, and to blame them for a bunch of stuff which isn’t their fault. It really is a classic move with a rich history.

I liked it until about half way through, it seemed to lose all the intrigue and then there was the weird bit about rape (if I remember correctly) at which point I gave up. Shame because it started well.

Just finished Embassytown by China Mieville. Haven’t read anything for ages so took the opportunity to get back into it on a lazy holiday. Highly recommend this book, or any by China, if you enjoy dense sci-fi.

If you don’t believe in equality and would rather stick to ancient and out of date traditions that’s fine but perhaps he is a bit more progressive and you are not well suited to each other.
