Honest question: how are baby killers treated by other inmates in American prisons?
This is the move Trump needs to make if he wants to become a true dictator. You need the military protecting you from the populace if you’re going to consolidate absolute power. If he starts purging the military brass, that’s a confirmation that he’s planning to be president for life.
There’s been a few. Not many. They seem like they’re the type that’s just in denial, not maliciously trying to smokescreen his ill intent.
OR…you could just have sex and start families with men who support women’s rights?
I have a feeling this extremist “solution” is just disguised misandry from a bunch of extremist feminists.
Ah well, thanks for selecting yourselves out of the gene pool, I guess?
They’re protesting no sex against a rapist?
Yeah, I can’t imagine how this is going to turn out….
That’s a limerick conservative parents tell themselves to feel better about their rebellious kids.
And not what I’m talking about at all.
As a serious answer, I’d guess Lemmy skews younger. Too many idealists here to think the average user base has the wisdom that comes from experience.
Sorry, younglings. You’ll know when you get older: the long view clearly demonstrates optimism is a lie. History is a corkscrew. Progress is made, but only through endless repetitions of past mistakes.
Trump voters are stupid and have poor memories.
Except for the ones who are just plain evil.
Because smart people question each other and disagree a lot. Dumb people are sheep and follow the loudest, most confident voice in the room.
What upset me the most is that Harris used Hilary’s election plan verbatim.
She absolutely did not. Hillary leaned into the gender card hardcore. She had her supporters wearing t-shirts saying “I’m with her” with an arrow sign. She said “I’m not saying you should vote for me because I’m a woman, you should vote for me because of my qualifications. But one of my qualifications is…I’M A WOMAN!!!”
Kamala didn’t lean into any of this demographics, gender war trash. She (wisely) followed Barack Obama’s playbook of leaving the identify politics crap at the door. She lost for other reasons. Hillary alienated voters by leaning too hard into identity politics. Kamala ran a much better campaign than Hillary. They are not the same. Why Kamala lost will be debated for some time at least, but it will not be concluded reasonably that she lost for the same reasons Hillary lost in 2016. I know people want to conclude that women just can’t get elected, but we haven’t yet had a female candidate that ran a great campaign. As someone who wants our first female president, I have to reluctantly admit that we’ve been underserved by our female politicians thus far. I have high hopes for AOC in the future, but we’ll have to wait and see how that plays out. I don’t actually think Kamala did anything wrong in her campaign; I just think she was working against the legacy set by her predecessor, and it was too much. That, and too many American voters are stupid, ignorant, misguided voters. And, probably, some Pro-Palestinian voters had their heads up their asses.
This asshat is a professional troll, people, please don’t pay any attention to them.
As someone who voted for Harris? Nothing. Nothing related to the question in this thread at least.
As someone who paints an entire national population with the same broad brush though, what the bigoted fuck is wrong with you?
That’s right, bringing race, gender, and other demographic variables into it totally makes your argument stronger. It definitely doesn’t expose your own prejudices at all, no siree.
This has happened plenty of times in other countries. To think it can’t happen here is what is irrational.
I took this attitude the first time Trump was elected, and boy was I wrong. Not this time. Now, I’m seriously considering what his options might be for eliminating the election in 2028. He needs to clean the military brass of people disloyal to him, which he can easily do as Commander in Chief. Once he’s got a loyal military, there’s virtually nothing he can’t do; and this SCOTUS will let him do anything he wants, so long as it aligns with the view of Evangelical Christians, who have been wanting a theocracy for decades. He can conjure the specter of “Democrat corruption” to justify eliminating any opposition politicians as an official act, completely re-stock the FBI with loyalists to wage any legal battles he needs to make his actions seem legitimate and “official,” and arrest any problematic judges under the same “corruption” myth so that he can then replace them with loyalists.
Honestly, we’ve seen this playbook before in countries that are now dictatorships and Trump has already made it quite clear he wants to be a dictator. There is absolutely no reason to be convinced this will not happen. It might not happen, but there’s no reason to think definitely will not.
I have a Mexican coworker who voted for Trump over a single issue: he believes Trump pulled the FBI and CIA out of Mexico, which stopped them selling guns to the cartels.
Not only is this not true, it shows that he’s voting for Trump solely for the benefit of Mexico. Honestly, to my mind, that’s not a bad reason to deport someone (which—as a citizen—he can’t be, I know).
They legitimately want Trump to deport the other illegals, not their illegals.
Artemio Muniz, chairman of the Federation of Hispanic Republicans, said he was pleased with the election outcome, but his elation was tempered because “the reality is there’s work to do."
“Now my focus is to the immigration side. Now we have a real battle on our hands, not with Trump,” Muniz said, but “we have to make sure … hard-working Mexican immigrants do not get deported.”
Fucking incredible.
Try to find a job you enjoy from 9-5. That means focusing on activities you enjoy that are the main activity of said job. I worked in a pet store because it afforded me 30% of my time playing with puppies, even though the remaining 70% was cleaning puppy shit and stocking goods. I now work as a therapist because I spend 70% of my time talking to people about their problems (which I enjoy), and 30% doing paperwork and correspondence. Make your job something you enjoy most of them time and it gets much easier. Then, you retire and collect Social Security. As long as you’ve worked for most of your life, that’ll be a decent retirement. You’ll have to live frugally, but it’ll be livable.
Also, if you can manage it, invest $10,000 as early as you can in a stock market index fund and pay for a fund manager. By the time you retire, that will provide you with a substantial cushion to rest on.
