Famously conflict only happens when burly guys with guns show up to a place, no other form of conflict exists. Not political warfare, not economic warfare, not even social warfare. No. It’s all guys with guns.
Wow that’s crazy! I didn’t know they did away with the two systems policy, I must be crazy, because I went there and it was clearly different in numerous ways from the rest of China. Weird!
I also wonder how many people were killed by police during those demonstrations, I know many Americans were killed and gravely injured by their police forces now and during BLM.
Additionally, if HK was such a good democracy beforehand, why did the “pro democracy” camp only have 29 seats out of possible 70 if they represented the majority of people in Hong Kong? Maybe in the US if we had a party that did away with right wingers and made housing more affordable that would be a good thing, it seems to have been working pretty well for HKers since.
Actually yes, it’s very common in China to have people maybe mention or discuss the June 4th Incident, in China it’s simply called 六四事件. Everyone in China has seen this image, yet still more than 95% of Chinese in a Harvard Study were found to feel positively about the Beijing Government.
Additionally there is very little to no internet censorship in Hong Kong whatsoever due to the One China Two Systems policy. Beyond information of the June 4th incident genuinely being accessible in Mainland China, it’s in addition “extra accessible” in HK. Many even speak and read English in Hong Kong due to English colonization so they could look at your post if they wanted.
That scene in End of Evangelion where they’re all in each other’s minds
Always bear in mind that the people are not fighting for ideas, for the things in anyone’s head. They are fighting to win material benefits, to live better and in peace, to see their lives go forward, to guarantee the future of their children.
HA thank you, I’m still learning to properly use my pinyin engine and identify correct characters
谢谢西大大, 爱国者们掌握了局势, 没有共产党金没有新中国
She’s literally correct; studies from even anti-Chinese partisan sources can’t help but find that satisfaction with the government is overwhelming. While you treat anti-imperialist movements like this sitting from your home in the imperial core, you’re not a revolutionary or helping anybody build towards anything better, you’re an active hindrance. Feel free to imbibe the actual opinions of people in China so you can understand the conditions there and not just your cracker conditioning. It’s not perfect, but overthrow would be far; far worse.

Nar, probably the material systems rewarding such behaviors
Are Cuba and Vietnam considered good or bad? Nicaragua? How about the new coup leaders in Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger? Any successful revolution has demonstrated the necessity of authority, to enforce an ideological will on society and stop the bourgeois class from re-appearing requires authority. Any revolution with be authoritarian, even and especially if it is the oppressed overthrowing the oppressor.
Sure, say you don’t like China, the Soviet Union, or the DPRK for your own reasons, but why use a term that encompasses any successful revolution, as even the CNT-FAI was finding a need for things like secret police during the awful times of a revolution.
You should maintain your site culture, but there’s a reason anti-communists and fascists use the term tankie as well, it’s imprecise and volatile.
Edit: I apologize if this is not a post meant to invite discussion, I just don’t see this perspective shared very often in these conversations.
Horrifying! Imagine burning all that money for a genocidal maniac who targeted black and trans people during her tenure as California’s Top Cop.
