Finished Xenoblade X. I did chapter 9 and then quickly finished maxing all classes and reaching max level. Afterwards, I was laser focused on the story. I initially planned to continue side quests afterwards, I was sitting at just under 50% completion for Mira as a whole, but Chapter 13 was such a let-down, I quit afterwards. I wrote more about the new story in the monthly JRPG thread.

(TL;DR: I preferred not having any answers over the ones we got.)

Now, I’ve just started Star Ocean Second Story R. I’ve only played Divine Force before and weirdly loved it, despite people mostly hating on it. I don’t have any opinion on Second Story R yet.

I spent my time once again with Xenoblade X. Currently preparing for Chapter 9, Lv 67 and 33% of Mira done.

I don’t think they truly understand their audience. Everything before the endgame is just a tutorial in MH. Yet, they usually ship the endgame with the DLC .

Then again, it sells anyways.

My equipment is filled with EXP augments. You can get these preinstalled from the shop, they get better when you level up the Sakura manufacturer. Or you can craft the 40% one quite cheap early on only using material tickets. Set one to each piece of armor for a grand total of at least 200% extra. (It may be capped at a 100%, they are so cheap, I never bothered testing).

My teammates are only lv 33, I didn’t given them any.

The other ingredient was simply fighting stuff up to 10 levels above me. If you succed you easily get a full level early on.

Xenoblade X continued to take up all the time I spend gaming. Got a bit carried away with side stuff and reached Lv 40, currently inbetween Chapter 6 and 7.

Just got my Skell too, but I honestly don’t like them much. Ground combat feels more dynamic, Skells don’t level in any way and the hefty repair cost doesn’t match my playstyle of stat checking every living thing I come across. Probably why I’m so overleveled.

Just like in the WiiU version, it will probably get relegated to cheesy grinding tactics, if necessary, and flying.

Wouldn’t have expected anything else. The two types of people I’ve mostly seen buying the Switch 2 are those who are really into Mario Kart and those who are into Pokemon, for the extra frame rate.

Neither of these groups is known for buying 3rd party games - at least not the ones I know.

You see, that’s your problem. Companies don’t make games for any other reason than money. Since there are no microtransactions or subscriptions available, they quite frankly don’t care if you ever play the game after you’ve purchased it.

They moved a lot of units already and considering it’s only a side game with reused assets, they made a profit. Therefore, the game by all means is a success for them, even if nobody would play anymore.

Concurrent players also shouldn’t influcene future sales by much, since you only need 3 people at a time

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, above all else.

That being said, Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor 1 and 2 are awesome. They combine SRPGs with the usual SMT combat - I don’t think I’ve found something similar yet.

You move around like you would in any other SRPG, then you can attack enemies in range to enter normal turn based combat - however, at most, you can only play out 2 full turns before combat ends. Afterwards the next unit moves. Each unit represents a squad of up to three characters you will be batteling with, usually a human and two demons. Depending on your squad, you may have different movement, range and abilities.

You do not need them, yes, but I think it’s always fun to recognize people in games like Like a Dragon.

That aside, it’s always been a thing in Onimusha. It wouldn’t be a proper revival of the IP without one of their biggest USP.

It seems to be heavily inspired by Portal, so that’s par for the course. Portal was more about the writing - does the game deliver on that?

I could present him with multiple options at once, but since he only gets wet food, this would involve a lot of waste.

There’s also the added problem of changing taste. Depending on my mood, I prefer different food on different days. Until proven otherwise, I just assume the same for him, which is why I would ideally have everything in stock and he could choose every day.

Maybe I should get more cats, give them multiple options and see who goes for what. Ideally, everything gets eaten and I learn more about their preferences.

Your mind will be blown once you learn about ‘different flavours’. I wish I could ask my cat which he prefers.

I’ve played them all! Although, I haven’t finished all of them. I’m planning on fixing that with the FFT remaster, however, I had to drop the original release.

Personally, it goes FFTA > FFTA2 > FFT. I don’t think I’ve ever met someone who likes FFTA2 the most.

Funnily enough, I really didn’t like FFT. The only thing I could get behind was the story. However, I’m planning on giving the remaster another shot.

Usually, whenever people talk about A, you get a few of the following arguments:

• The story is bad/too childish
• Laws/Judges are overall a terrible mechanic
• Learning skills from equipment is bad
• SRPGs need permadeath
• Send missions are bad and just there to promote the game with having 300 missions

Of course, I disagree with all of these. Actually, these are some of my favorite things about this game.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance

People only ever talk about Final Fantasy Tactics and dismiss any of the other games. However, going by the original release, Tactics Advance is by far my favorite. It’s my favorite GBA game and at least in my Top 25 JRPGs, despite having played almost nothing else for the past 20 years. I like many of the things the game gets criticized for.

You’re missing many of the most iconic games on PC, namely stuff like League of Legends, DOTA, WoW, Overwatch, Runescape… Kerrigan is the only one you’ve included that kinda fits this group.

Now, to be honest, I haven’t touched most of these games myself, so I can’t tell you their mascots. But at least the MOBAs are bound to have one.

Got sucked into Xenoblade X, it’s from one of my favorite ongoing series after all. Finished the first 4 chapters and did a lot of exploration until my vacation ended and will continue this weekend.

I could probably blitz through some more chapters if I wanted to. I’m Lv 24 and did a good chunk of the map activies already. Got about 30% of Primordia and a bit of the others.

I’ve already played the original version and am really curious about the additinal content, but it’s also been nice to test the online features. They were long gone when I played the WiiU one.

Played Mario RPG Remake this week. It’s quite short and I was on vacation, so I finished the entire thing. It’s fun, although the post game bosses did get annoying and I didn’t beat all of them - maybe I’ll finish them over the weekend.

Besides that, I’ll join in on the fun and start Xenoblade X.

Oh, and I started a replay of Monster Hunter Rise with my partner. This time around, for every mission, we roll a random weapon each we have to beat it with, which is quite fun. After playing about 200h using the hammer exclusively, it’s nice to slowly learn all the other weapons too.
