Just an Idea but could it be that the game was delayed because it is just not ready yet? Yes it could be an evil scheme sure, but maybe it is not. Has anyone here really any hard facts or insider information about the true status of the game?

Magiilaro@feddit.orgto Open Source@lemmy.ml•In September 2024, "Ty Coon" was replaced with "Moe Ghoul" in the official text file for GPL v2, without changing the version number or URL.0·6 days agoYes, if you change the complete context and make major changes to the sentences, then both can be true. I am sorry that I made that mistake, I beg for forgiveness

Only because I know the definition of the Japanese word “Moe”? A definition that is only one Wikipedia search away.
Maybe you should get some education and logical thinking first before you send others into re-education.
Magiilaro@feddit.orgto Open Source@lemmy.ml•In September 2024, "Ty Coon" was replaced with "Moe Ghoul" in the official text file for GPL v2, without changing the version number or URL.1·6 days agoAs I said in another post this was only a demonstration that people can read and interpret negative meaning in every combination of words if they really want to. I even gave the definition why “Ghoul” can be read in a negative way, but yeah it is easier to pull the conversation down to the ad hominem level like you did.
So in that regard was my little demonstration really successful, way more so then I intended.
To be honest, I don’t care at all what they use as a funny wordplay, Moe Ghoul is even funnier than the older choice in my eyes. But my personal opinion about it is irrelevant, sorry that I have one.
I really think we should end the conversation here, because I already tried to end it with the nice weekend.

And you are making ad hominem claims (my soberness) so yes it is about me.
But it is not me how brought it to the personal level, that was you with calling me drunk. Before that it was completely abstract and impersonal.

This is a self contradictory, both statements can’t be true at the same time.
I am not offended by anything here, I couldn’t care less about what they use as fun wordplay in there.
Had a slow day and lots of free time at a train ride and just want to show that everything written can be misinterpreted and misunderstood. There is a bad meaning or derogatory slang for nearly every word out there.

If you think so then, ok I am drunk and go home. Have a nice weekend!
Magiilaro@feddit.orgto Open Source@lemmy.ml•In September 2024, "Ty Coon" was replaced with "Moe Ghoul" in the official text file for GPL v2, without changing the version number or URL.13·8 days agoBullying should never be ok, and rules should be valid and applicable for everyone.
Nobody should be a valid target for verbal abuse, not even anime nerds.
So if a rule against verbal harm and abuse are implemented (which I am not against at all) then such rule should be valid and used for all cases. There is no equality if new inequality is created in the process.

It was not me who started to read bad things into word play, but by that rules is Moe Ghoul offensive too.
Magiilaro@feddit.orgto Open Source@lemmy.ml•In September 2024, "Ty Coon" was replaced with "Moe Ghoul" in the official text file for GPL v2, without changing the version number or URL.225·8 days agoSo instead of a racial slur they now make fun of Anime/Manga/Video Game fans
“Moe (Japanese: 萌え; pronounced [mo.e] ⓘ), sometimes romanized as moé, is a Japanese word that refers to feelings of strong affection mainly towards characters in anime, manga, video games, and other media directed at the otaku market. Moe, however, has also gained usage to refer to feelings of affection towards any subject”
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moe_(slang)
That in combination with Ghoul
“In folklore, a ghoul (from Arabic: غول, ghūl) is a demon-like being or monstrous humanoid, often associated with graveyards and the consumption of human flesh”
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghoul
creates a not very nice combination.

Section 103 (17 U.S.C Sec. 1201(a)(1)) of the DMCA states: No person shall circumvent a technological measure that effectively controls access to a work protected under this title.
This law was created to limit the rights from 17 USC 117, and yes exceptions to section 103 exist, but those are very specific and some of them even exclude games specifically from the exceptions.
But I am no lawyer, and as a European I only have a very limited view and knowledge of US laws, so yes it is only my understanding of those laws and I could be wrong, so don’t take my words as a legal advice or anything like that. I am only a normal human with some experience with laws and jurisdictions, but far away from a specialist.
Magiilaro@feddit.orgto Games@lemmy.world•Nintendo Is Already Punishing Switch 2 Users Over Piracy ‘Suspicions’English12·21 days agoNearly all jurisdictions have DMCA like laws which clearly say that circumventing copy protection is against the law. So in those jurisdictions it is piracy to use a backup of a copy protected game and I am very sure that a map of the countries where the Switch 2 can be officially bought and a map with countries who have thoses laws will produce a lot of matches. Maybe I am wrong, but I highly doubt it.
Magiilaro@feddit.orgto Games@lemmy.world•Nintendo Is Already Punishing Switch 2 Users Over Piracy ‘Suspicions’English12·21 days agoYou may have the right to make a backup, but playing that backup on a non sectioned device or via non sectioned means is still a breach of the TOS and breaking the license terms of the game and/or console. Oh and it is in violation of the DMCA as far as I know, because to make the backup it is needed to circumvent copy protection, which is forbidden by the rules of the DMCA (and equal laws in other jurisdictions like Europe). You may own the cartridge, but you still only have a license (with very specific terms and rules) to use the software on it.

I tried Elder Scrolls: Castles when it came out but it didn’t click with me.

Physical releases are nearly full gone on PC (physical boxes only containing Steam Keys), and even on Consoles they become less and less common (or turned into something like the Switch 2 Game cards). On the digital release front only GOG comes to mind as as store where one could say that one owns the game after purchase and download. Everything else only sell licenses that can be revoked or removed any moment.
And Minecraft has a huge pool of paid content, especially with Bedrock Edition
