Can you provide one real world example? An older Windows game that works better on Mac than on Windows?
I will also add that 2015 is a random number. Win10 easily handles anything after 2005 or so. It’s the pre 2005 games that often require some deal of research.
The piece about Mac makes no sense. That’s purely a result of Apple’s decision to drop support. In general, if you are interested in older games, MacOS is not a viable platform.
ESP32 seems a bit too weak for both full x86 emulation and running Windows XP. From memory, XP didn’t run well on anything less than 500 MHz (quick web search suggests official minimum CPU requirements on release was 233 MHz). I can’t imagine Windows XP on a 233 MHz P2 was a good experience.
Seems like a pointless exercise.
If anything, it would be more interesting to run a full x86 emulator to install Windows 98 / Windows XP to run older games. There are games that work better on native Windows 98 than via compatibility mode on W10.
The gzdoom version looks good and feels great as well.
Laptops (and desktops) with no GPUs will become increasingly viable not just for older games. This was a general comment. :)
Modern high end iGPUs (e.g. AMD Strix Halo) are going to start replacing dGPUs in the entry and mid-range segments.
The Steam page for Bread & Fred says:
Bread & Fred is a challenging co-op platformer from Apogee
The piles of dead Peter Griffins are hilarious.
Treasure Planet is a pretty solid animated movie.
Nonpermanent “bans” are a thing
I mean from a linguistic perspective. A ban is permanent (or at least long-term in the since that it might take a very long time for a ban to be removed).
This is the leftist talk show streamer’s fifth ban
Doesn’t a ban imply a ban, i.e. permanent removal? This seems like a suspension.
I got into C&C via Red Alert 1, never actually got to play the OG C&C (Tiberian Sun was great though), the installer really is a work of art.
Star Citizen perhaps?
Although I personally think it’s basically more of an outright scam than a “too big too fail” game.
Indie gaming is mostly promoted via smaller forums around more niche topics, word of mouth and mostly smaller content creators (with ~1 million being the upper limit).
Discoverability is a major challenge.
Indie also tend to be less polished. I personally don’t care that much about polish (within reason) or graphics, but that can be issue much of the market.
Do it. You might be surprised.
I do prefer Alien to Aliens, but Aliens is an excellent film as well. They are close.
Over time I’ve started to enjoy T2 somewhat less and definitely began appreciating T1 more.
My biggest issue with T2 is that in retrospective it has more of a summer blockbuster feel to it. T1 also had a lot of action, but none of the teen angst stuff.
Side-scrolling action games are not my cup of tea, but ngl that trailer looked awesome. The artwork is gorgeous and the T2 theme got me all nostalgic (even though I strongly prefer Terminator to Terminator 2; 2 is OK, I prefer the darker and horror-focused tone of the first one).
I might be mistaken, but doesn’t HL2 RTX require a high end 5000 series GPU? I guess I should just try it out on my 3080 (with a 1440 screen) and see how it goes.
