    It really is projection.

I remember some people were saying that the fires weren’t actually real, too. Guess all that smoke nationwide (and in the US) was too hard to deny anymore, so instead it had to be faked by the government.

And just to prove how easy it is for a government official to light a fire, I’ll light one now. And another…wanna see me do it again?

    What lunatics…

If this guy was in the United States, he’d be a MAGA Republican and spouting similar U.S.-focused conspiracy theories.

We have those people here too, complete with the US focused conspiracy theories. There’s a weird amount of Canadian Conservatives who think they’re American

Do they rant and rave against Canada’s universal health care system while using it?

Pretty much. They claim the system is inefficient and a US model would be better. Our healthcare is getting worse but it’s only because Conservative premiers are cutting funding left and right. It’s all very tiring

Oh god. These people must be stopped. And I say that as a USA citizen that actually has excellent health care.

Actually, the premiere of Alberta is trying to privatize the province’s healthcare. Just look up pretty much any Danielle Smith speech on health care, it is insane what she is attempting. I have come to the conclusion that Alberta is the Texas of Canada. They love the oil industry, hate the government, want to privatize everything, and even have their own half-hearted secession movement.

For that matter, Alberta even toyed with replacing the Royal Canadian Mounted Police with their own local provincial police. I am American so I don’t entirely understand the situation, but it sounds about like if Texas decided to kick out the FBI and have the Texas Rangers take over FBI duties within the state.

It’s part of the way the right packages their “information” to be easily reproducible by their viewers. The people who take it in memorize info verbatim, the same crowd often falls to rhetorical arguments when they have nothing logical. These folks lack the critical thinking to thoroughly challenge the ideas they are given - the idea has surface level cohesion so it must be a valuable thought that is logically solid.

They are left spouting something wrong BUT, importantly, these same people hate appearing dumb or being wrong, so they double down and change their behavior instead of admitting fault. They repeat this several times to friends and family, alienating themselves and finding only other proud idiots who say the same things online. But that validation is what they crave as they have been wrong for so long and done so much to change who they are that they end up parroting any talking point they are fed, including ideas that mirror their own but from another country.

Since they don’t challenge ideas they are given, they don’t change any labels and end up spouting nonsense again, but it’s American themed nonsense. And that how we get here, watching idiots speak and behave like the only other people who understand them.

Movements founded by lies always end the same way.

Lies just don’t mesh with reality. They don’t fit. They cause dissonance. People pick up on that shit and will always find out what you did. It’s just not worth it.
