Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Asking someone to explain Sealioning is Sealioning and bait - in case you’re legitimately ignorant here’s Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sealioning

Ahhh, I don’t know about sea lioning, I’ve never seen you doing it.

That’s where you have someone “just asking questions”, and pretending not to know anything about the matter, while they’re pushing an agenda.

You’d have to ask a mod if that’s the part of rule 5 they’re dinging you for, but if you’ve been doing it, the comments are getting removed before I’ve seen them.

The other part of rule 5 is rage baiting, where you post something inflammatory just to get people riled up. Again, not something I’ve seen guy actually do, but I can understand how someone might read some posts that way.

We’ve interacted a decent amount over the last few months, and you do have a different way of presenting questions, and a different way of thinking, I wouldn’t interpret your posts or comments as trolling. You’re consistent, you engage in a friendly manner, and don’t go over the top when someone gives you a little grief. But, again, I may not be seeing everything.

My advice? Avoid politics entirely. Unless I miss my guess, that’s where you’re running into issues.

You made a friend, OP. That honestly says a lot about your character

Similar observations here. I certainly haven’t seen everything, but what I have seen matches your description. I appreciate OP creating much-needed content.

Yeah, Don comes up with some really interesting stuff. To the point that even if I can’t provide a response, I’m happy to see their name.

keep getting dinged for not following rule 5

In that case it is better to ban you, because then you get a chance to learn your proper googeling yourself, instead of trying to ask other people for the simplest things.

I have not heard of sea lioning either. I learn something new every day. I wonder how sea lions got associated with trolling. I’m going to have to look up the etymology of that; it’s an interesting phrase.

Without knowing anything of your history this question looks like its asked in bad faith.

If the question is legit then type “sealioning” into a search engine and read a few of the results.

Then with that knowledge reread the rules and they should be pretty clear.

Meh. I mean the / is “no stupid questions”. 98% of everything posted in the sub could be found elsewhere by using search engines. I’ve never even heard the term “sealioning” before now, but if you just tell people to “Google it” this instance may as well not exist.
